Don't Reinvent the Wheel: Scaling Best Practices with Rev replication

Efficiency in manufacturing isn't just about how fast a machine runs; it's about how quickly knowledge moves. Too often, teams waste time "reinventing the wheel" for issues that have already been solved elsewhere in the plant.

Rev replication was built to bridge this gap. This feature allows you to easily duplicate existing Revs (Improvement Ideas, Quick Actions, or Problem Solving) across both web and mobile platforms.

This feature transforms your workflow by:

  1. Accelerating Adoption: Turning a local win into a global standard by reusing proven solutions.
  2. Maximizing Resources: Drastically reducing the administrative burden on teams, allowing them to focus on execution rather than data entry.

By making knowledge mobile and repeatable, we ensure that every "Aha!" moment becomes a shared asset, accelerating the pace of innovation across every shift and site.

How Rev Replication Works: A Quick Guide

When you clone a Rev, the system is designed to carry over the "meat" of the idea while resetting the context so you can start fresh. Here’s what you need to know:

The Essentials Move With You To save you time, the core details—Problem, Solution, Experiment, and Root Causes—are automatically copied. You can also adjust Categories, Tags, and Situation Types before you finalize the replication.

A Fresh Start for a New Site To keep data clean, certain elements are not duplicated:

  • Location: The new Rev automatically adopts the site of the user who is cloning it.
  • People & Social: Coaches, collaborators, comments, likes, and highlights are reset.
  • Data: Financial impact data and photos are not carried over to ensure accuracy for the new project.
  • Status: Every cloned Rev begins as "Open."

Smart Tracking & Notifications We’ve built in "intelligence" to make sure credit goes where it's due:

  • Metrics: Every Rev features a counter showing how many times it has been cloned.
  • Owner Recognition: The original owner will receive an in-app and push notification whenever their work is re-implemented!
  • Traceability: Each clone includes a link to the original Rev. Even if a "clone of a clone" is created, the system smartly tracks it back to the very first original source to prevent broken references.

Finding Duplicated Revs

Explore Section

In the Explore section, you’ll find new filters under the "Condition" group: Has Replicas and Is Replica, making it easy to track the spread of great ideas.

  • Has Replicas: Filter for original Revs that have been cloned.
  • Is a Replica: Filter for Revs that were created by cloning an existing Rev.

Insights Section

To help leadership track how knowledge is spreading, Admins and Coaches can access specialized data within the following reports: Revs Overview, Quick Actions, Improvement Idea, and Problem solving.

When you download these reports, you’ll find three key columns dedicated to understanding Rev lineage:

  • Total Replicas: The cumulative number of times that specific Rev has been cloned. Use this to identify your most influential "best practices."
  • Original Rev ID: The unique identifier of the source Rev, making it easy to trace a clone back to its roots.
  • Original Rev Link: A direct URL to the source Rev for quick cross-referencing and deep-dive analysis.
